Traveling Considerations

If you think travel isn’t complicated enough, let me complicate things for you. I’m in the process of attempting to buy my ticket back to Brazil, but in all considerations I have to consider the following:

1– My visa is for 90 days max per visit and no more than 180 days/year. Does this year restart in January or restart from the day the visa was issued or the day of initial entry in Brazil?

2– Audrey’s 2nd birthday means she is not elligible as a lap child on the trip back. This mean potentially another ticket of about $1300 (total cost about $2600/ PER TRIP.

3– Minors traveling often need permission from both parents for the child to leave the country. However, in Brazil the passport people took the letter of permission that was for her to leave Brazil. Will the USA let me leave here with her? How do I prove her dad is in Brazil?

4–Getting to Brasilia, even with all these complications, is the easy part. How do I get to Tucuma?

5– If Cesar comes back with us, how do I add him to our ticket? Will we be able to travel together? The cost of a ONE-WAY ticket from Brazil to the USA is almost $2000, whereas a two-way ticket from here to there AND back is $1300. Does that make sense?

If Cesar comes back with us, will we leave from Brasilia or Rio or another destination. Where will I be three months from now?

Finally, what do I do with my taxes. I have no idea how to talk with the IRS in all of this. I tried calling and working out a plan, but they said I could make payments of $415/month, but if I can’t make any payments, they didn’t really give me any options. I need an accountant or financial organizer. Anybody know anyone who does pro-bono work like this?

In any case, I hope to see my husband two weeks from now. It looks like it’s happening. And some awesome news: I’m going to see GRANDPA!!!! NEXT WEEK!
